The Serious Stuff…
Alex is working towards her master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Grand View University. Alex has worked as a certified nursing assistant in medical units, where she highlighted the importance of therapeutic connections with those going through physical and emotional traumas. This inspired her to work as a behavioral health counselor in an inpatient setting where she’s provided educational skills groups and crisis stabilization for adolescents and adults over the past four years.
Alex’s aspirations to work with adolescents and adults are driven by her interest in various areas of mental health, including life transitions, depression, anxiety, ADHD, emotional regulation, stress management, and women’s issues. Alex believes in an Existential-Humanistic approach as an individual’s philosophy of who they are can help one possess a positive self-concept and cultivate resilience. She enjoys creating a therapeutic and comfortable environment with humor and compassion.
Alex sees clients at the Des Moines Location.
