The Serious Stuff…
Jalynn enjoys working with teens, adolescents, and young adults who struggle with anxiety, depression, adjustment disorders, anger management, and other mental health disorders. Jalynn is an LGBTQIA+ ally. Jalynn earned a master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, Iowa and received her undergraduate degree from the University of Iowa in Criminology with a minor in Social Work. Jalynn likes to utilize many forms of therapy with her clients, allowing a person-centered focus, with a humanistic lens, and an eclectic approach. Jalynn uses empathic, intuitive, and mindfulness techniques such as body movement, and art therapy to establish healing within the mind, body, and spirit. Jalynn brings in approaches such as motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy, solution focused, and role playing as well as any tools that would be beneficial. Jalynn has a true passion for assisting others in overcoming stressors and life experiences in order to help her clients be the best possible version of themselves. Jalynn advocates for her clients by being present, building trust, finding resources, educating, meeting clients where they are and creating a safe space.
Jalynn is in the Des Moines office and in Ankeny Schools.
The Fun Stuff…
During undergraduate, Jalynn was also a short sprinter and a jumper on the track and field team! In Jalynn’s spare time she enjoys traveling to California. In the fall and summer Jalynn coaches girls track and field at Lincoln High School. Jalynn loves being with family, friends and her dogs, and doing her daily yoga and meditation. When Jalynn has a free moment she is watching or listening to anything true crime, working with her healing crystals or reading!
